Research + Experience + Knowledge = Success

One thing is certain: Strategy should come before Tactics. Many appear to be confused about what the difference is between the two.

Strategy, in short, provides the method of focusing an organization’s energies and resources on a course of action which can be expected to lead to increased (business) activity and even dominance of a targeted market niche. A marketing strategy combines product development, promotion, distribution, pricing, relationship management and other elements; identifies your organization’s marketing goals, and explains how they will be achieved, ideally within a predetermined timeframe.

Of course there’s much more to it, but suffice it to say that your marketing tactics can only be the direct result of your marketing strategy. It comes down to this basic approach:

  1. Determine your target audience and confirm your opinions through internal and/or external research
  2. Create the strategy and identify the key success factors
  3. Develop the plan, launch, implement and measure your results
